JI HEE HWANG
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Hwang's research focuses on lifelong learning and workforce development, focusing on work-to-school and school-to-work transitions of marginalized populations, high-impact learning models and practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration for innovative learning and training programs. As a quantitative researcher, Dr. Hwang has utilized large-scale national and international data sets to inform research, practice, and policy in P-20 education and lifelong learning. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters and presented at international and national conferences. Dr. Hwang received the AIR/NSF/NCES Dissertation Research Grant, the Charles F. Elton Best Paper Award from the AIR, and the Research Fellowship of Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP). She is a fellow scholar for the AERA Fellowship Program on the Study of Deeper Learning.

As an ACUE-certified instructor for effective college teaching, Dr. Hwang has taught learning theories, program development and evaluation, distance education, research design, and statistics. Her instruction includes high-impact learning practices such as writing-intensive courses, capstone research experiences, and an e-portfolio development. Dr. Hwang has served as a member of doctoral committees, committee chair for master's students, and advisor to undergraduate research. Dr. Hwang was appointed to the editorial board for the Journal of College Student Development (2023-2026) and serves as chair of the research and election committee at the Korean American Academy of Lifelong Education (2023-2025).
