Ms. Ambyr Rios currently serves as the Director for Online Education within Texas A&M University’s Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture and is concurrently pursuing a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Technology and Teacher Education. Professionally, Ms. Rios previously served as a secondary English teacher, school administrator, and curriculum director in underserved public schools in Baltimore, M.D., Washington, D.C., and Austin, T.X.. Ms. Rios is a two-time teacher of the year award winner in two different urban school districts at both the middle and high school levels. She holds a B.A. in English from Texas A&M University, an M.A.T. from Johns Hopkins University, a Reading Specialist Certificate from George Washington University, and a Principal Certification from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. A 2018 Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar, her research interests include culturally relevant literacy instruction, disciplinary literacy, and teacher preparation. In her free time, Ms. Rios enjoys being a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur, outdoor adventure seeker, striving Crossfitter, a wife, and a dog/chicken/cat mom.
