JOHN SPENGLER
Visiting Lecturer
Dr. Spengler utilizes his knowledge of law, policy, and sport and recreation management to teach courses in legal issues and safety, leadership, management, and special topics. His research has been funded primarily by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to study and inform policy around opportunities for recreation, sport, and physical activity among underserved youth. He was appointed by the White House/HHS to serve on the Science Board for the President's Council on Sport, Fitness and Nutrition under the Trump and Biden administrations. He has also informed the work of the American Heart Association, Aspen Institute, United Nations, MacArthur Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and worked with state and local groups on policy, legal, and safety issues in the sport, recreation and physical activity context. His works include four university-level textbooks, a teaching novel, and one-hundred scholarly publications, having been cited over one-thousand times.
