Dr. Seung Won Yoon is a Professor of Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University and the immediate past president of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), the premier academic professional association in the field of human resource and workforce development, for the 2024–2026 term. His research focuses on how leadership, learning systems, and emerging technologies influence employee development, organizational effectiveness, and workforce capability. Drawing on perspectives from social capital, network science, and data analytics, his work examines how relationships, collaboration structures, and learning environments shape knowledge sharing and performance in organizations.

His recent work increasingly integrates workforce analytics, artificial intelligence, and computational methods to study how individuals and organizations learn, collaborate, and adapt in technology-enabled environments. He frequently combines social network analysis, machine learning, and mixed-methods approaches to examine learning/mentoring/collaboration networks, learning systems, and data-informed practices that support workforce development and organizational performance. He previously served two terms as Associate Editor of Human Resource Development Quarterly (2015–2022).

Dr. Yoon currently serves as a Faculty Research Fellow in the College of Education and Human Development (2025–2026), working with the Office of the Associate Dean for Research to advance college-wide initiatives connecting AI, data literacy, and experiential learning with domain-relevant practice. His work emphasizes strengthening human agency and analytic capability so that students and professionals can use AI and data responsibly to inform decision making.

With prior experience as an IT manager and as a scholar in HR and People Analytics, Dr. Yoon approaches teaching and research through applied and experiential learning. He leads the FLOW-AI Lab (Future Learning, Organization, and Work with AI), which studies how emerging technologies reshape learning environments, organizational collaboration, and workforce development.

While Texas A&M University is widely recognized for strengths across engineering, agriculture, and the sciences, the College of Education and Human Development offers distinctive expertise in learning design, assessment, instructional innovation, and workforce development. Dr. Yoon welcomes interdisciplinary collaboration and externally funded research partnerships related to workforce development, mentoring systems, program evaluation, and AI-enabled approaches to education and human performance.

EHRD 624. Change Theory
This graduate course provides the conceptual tools needed to understand theories of change and to develop ways of operationalizing change for education, business, and research. In addition to examining major frameworks in organizational and social change, students apply these concepts through an experiential project in which they work with a real client organization.
Fall

Through various workforce and HR analytics cases and hands-on data analyses, students will learn how to design and conduct a value-adding and strategy-aligned data analytics project in a dynamic team and workplace environment. Hands-on components will focus on applying statistical and machine learning concepts and techniques to prepare relevant data, interpret results and implications, and plan proper HR and workforce decisions.
Spring
EHRD 689. Social Network Analysis I
Hands-on and experiential learning of whole-network research – designing and analyzing a network using a roster-based survey or name directory (to empirically examine the influence of structure and relational interdependence).
Fall
EHRD 689. Social Network Analysis II
Building up on the first course, this second course focuses on how to design and analyze ego-centric networks. Multivariate regression analysis will be revisited, and multi-level analysis (hierarchical linear modeling and growth curve models) will be added to interpreting prediction models.
