Anita Lang serves as the Program Director for Aggie ACHIEVE at Texas A&M University, where she leads the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of one of the university’s comprehensive postsecondary education initiatives for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In this role, she ensures that Aggie ACHIEVE fulfills its mission to provide students with a comprehensive college education that fosters academic achievement, employment readiness, independent living skills, and full community inclusion. Before joining Aggie ACHIEVE, Anita spent nearly 20 years at the local Mental Health Authority, where she served as a leader in intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) services. She began as an IDD Service Coordinator, developing individualized, person-centered plans with individuals and families. Her expertise in community-based services and systems navigation led to her promotion to Program Specialist II, where she oversaw IDD Intake and Access, Medicaid Waiver Programs (TxHmL and HCS), and Crisis Services. In this role, she managed eligibility determinations, service coordination, compliance, and crisis response efforts. Anita brings extensive experience in assessment, monitoring, interagency collaboration, and disability policy. Her move to Aggie ACHIEVE reflects her continued commitment to expanding access and support for individuals with disabilities in higher education.
As Program Director, Anita is deeply inspired by the transformative potential of postsecondary education. She is committed to strengthening the program’s foundation, building partnerships across campus and the broader community, and creating pathways for continued growth and excellence. She believes in the power of higher education to change lives and is dedicated to expanding opportunities for students with IDD to learn, grow, and thrive in a college setting.
