Dr. Jemimah Young is a teacher educator and multicultural scholar in the department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture at Texas A&M University. Dr. Young's multicultural and urban education research specialization investigates the academic outcomes of historically marginalized and minoritized populations, with a particular emphasis on Black women and girls. She teaches classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level related to culture, identity, diversity, social justice, foundations in education, and research methodology.

In addition to her faculty role, Dr. Young has taught in K-12 schools and has served as a consultant in urban schools across the U.S. Dr. Young has scholarly publications in venues to include Urban Education, The Urban Review, The Journal for Multicultural Education, Roeper Review, Teachers College Record, Equity and Excellence in Education, Theory into Practice, Multicultural Perspectives, and The Clearing House. Additionally, she is the co-editor of the book Cultivating Achievement, Respect, and Empowerment (CARE) for African American Girls in PreK-12 Settings: Implications for Access, Equity, and Achievement (2017). Dr. Young currently serves the program chair for the AERA Critical Examinations of Race, Class, and Gender SIG and founder and co-editor of the Journal of African American Women and Girls in Education. She also serves as the program chair of Multicultural Education in the department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture at Texas A&M University.
