JOHN SCHRIEVER
Visiting Professor of the Practice
With an accomplished 39-year career in the professional sports industry, John Schriever brings extensive expertise in ticketing, event management, facility management, marketing, and customer service to the Texas A&M University Sports Management Department.

Formerly the Senior Vice President of Ticketing and Event Services for the Houston Texans (2000-2023), Schriever played a pivotal role in launching the 32nd NFL franchise, managing ticketing and eventually overseeing event operations at NRG Stadium. During his tenure, the Texans assisted the NFL in hosting Super Bowls in 2004 and 2017. The organization also hosted numerous college football games, major soccer events, and concerts.

Prior to the Texans, Schriever served as the Director of Ticketing at Texas Motor Speedway (1996-2000), where he was instrumental in launching the organization and facility. In his role, he oversaw the development of the ticketing staff and drove revenue through innovative sales strategies. In 1997, the Speedway hosted over 220,000 fans at the inaugural NASCAR race.

Schriever also held the role of Director of Tickets for the Texas Rangers (1984-1996). During his tenure, he managed the transition to The Ballpark in Arlington and was integral in boosting ticket sales and attendance. His time with the Rangers was marked by significant milestones, including the team’s acquisition by George W. Bush’s ownership group and the arrival of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, both of which helped elevate the franchise’s profile.

Schriever was also part of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, holding a key role in ticketing operations for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
