Curriculum Vitae
Katy Byrne Hanik is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Physical Education Activity Program in the department of Kinesiology and Sport Management. She holds a BFA in Ballet from the University of Utah and MFA in Dance from Florida State University. She teaches Introduction to the Science of Health and Fitness, The Art of Movement, and activities such as Pilates, Pilates Barre, Yoga, and Dance. She is also the faculty advisor for Fade to Black Hip Hop Dance Ensemble. Ms. Hanik has a rich professional experience as a dancer, having performed with New York Theatre Ballet and The Suzanne Farrell Ballet. She also has a passion for inclusive fitness and wellness, and recently created and leads a seminar for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Aggie ACHIEVE program along with Nicole Kuppersmith. Ms. Hanik was honored with the 2023 Emil Mamaliga Outstanding Teacher Award in her department at Texas A&M University. Originally from Miami, FL, she has called College Station home for the last fifteen years.
