Assistant Professor
I am an Assistant Professor of STEM Education in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture at Texas A&M University. I design and study technology-supported learning experiences that braid key computing competencies, such as AI literacy, computational thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, into science and mathematics contexts. My work centers on classroom-ready designs that align with disciplinary standards and authentic STEM practices, so computing deepens core ideas rather than sitting alongside them. I collaborate with educators, instructional designers, and interdisciplinary research teams to co-design, implement, and evaluate these experiences and the supporting technologies in real learning settings. I am currently leading two internally funded projects:
1. AI literacy & CT for non-CS preservice teachers: Developing and faciltiating professional-development modules that help future teachers build AI literacy and computational thinking, with materials designed for collaborative use and tight alignment to standards.
2. Sustainable agriculture & AI mentor (middle school, rural): Designing and implementing a problem-based, scientific-inquiry unit that uses low-cost mobile sensing and an AI peer mentor. The unit aims to cultivate disciplinary computational thinking practices through collaborative, authentic data work while broadening students’ interest in STEM careers.
