BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Woodman received a Ph.D. in Physiological Sciences from the University of Arizona under the mentorship of Dr. Charles Tipton. After graduate school he moved to the University of Missouri to complete a post-doctoral fellowship with Dr. Harold Laughlin in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. He joined the faculty in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M in 2006 where he is currently an Associate Professor and Director of the Vascular Biology Laboratory. His research focuses on the interactive effects of aging and exercise training on skeletal muscle vascular beds. The mission of the Vascular Biology Laboratory is to understand how the structure and function of arteries change with age and how these changes increase cardiovascular disease risk in the elderly. In addition, the laboratory seeks to determine mechanisms by which exercise training attenuates, or reverses, the detrimental effects of aging on vascular function. Dr. Woodman has received research support from the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
